Pair of Model 99's by Hans Könecke for Tecta, 1960
[SOLD] A great set of two original armchairs, model 99 or Sling Chair, by the designer Hans Könecke and manufactured by Tecta, Germany.
It features a tubular and flat steel polished frame that holds the seat that is finished in beige suède. The armrests are made of suède as well and the seat contains an additional cushion that can be removed. Model 99 is a perfect example of German modernism of the sixties.
Tecta is synonymous for the Bauhaus movement and still produces under license its famous designs. Based in Lauenförde it lies along the undulating banks of the river Weser. For over 40 years avant-garde designers have flocked to the town with a population of 3,000: be it British architects Peter & Alison Smithson, Mies van der Rohe’s architect, Sergius Ruegenberg, Jean Prouvé, Stefan Wewerka or the great Bauhaus thinkers such as the Gropius family.
The condition of these chairs is very good with just the right patina without being stained or worn. Ready to be fully appreciated by the new owner. It would certainly be a great addition to any interior from mid century luxury to modern.
